I got my hands on the Japanese Ninja Blade demo and played it for a bit. Here is the clip above in 720p HD. (right click save as) After playing it I knew that it would be practically impossible for me not to compare Ninja Blade to Ninja Gaiden II. For the most part from my time with the demo Ninja Blade seems like a bad rip of the Team Ninja game.

The actual combat in the demo was not up to par with the combat Ninja Gaiden II. There seemed to be too much blur and I thought that the camera was too far out for the most part. The ability to switch weapons during combat is a great inclusion that was not included in Ninja Gaiden II.

Ninja Blade shines in its cut scenes. The cut scenes build momentum and seem to connect the games set pieces in a way that Ninja Gaiden II did not. The falling sequences were a refreshing departure though the reliance on quick time events killed the enjoyment and made it seem more like I was playing a game of Simon quessing which color button to press at any given moment. Quick time events should no longer be included in games. They make me cringe especially when used as much as they are in the Ninja Blade demo. For the most part the demo was fun but the glaring similarities to the Ninja Gaiden series ruins it for me. Playing the Ninja Blade demo for me was like drinking Flavor Aid. In the back of your mind you know that its fake no matter how close it is to actual Kool-Aid.
