Recently, Microsoft has been sending out emails about a new program that rewards Xbox Live customers with Microsoft Points. These points can be used to buy games, movies, or other game related features on Xbox Live. I really hope that Microsoft will also extend this to also include downloadable games in the future and not just Microsoft points though only time will tell.
Nintendo has had a similar program called "Club Nintendo" which has been around in Japan for years though they recently brought the program to the states. The Club Nintendo Member Rewards program rewards customers who registers purchased games and other Nintendo items online and takes surveys about those products. The points earned from registering and participating in the surveys can be redeemed for points that can be used to get free promotional items.
