The Conduit: Game Impressions, Multiplayer Video

The Conduit game is a first person shooter for the Nintendo Wii. The game is good though the derivative nature the story and style of the game does detract from the amount of fun I had while playing the game. I say this because comparisons to a Halo, Half-Life, Men In Black movie, or any game in which you play as a Space Marine shooting aliens will come to mind. That is not to say the Conduit is not a good game because I do think in fact that its one of the best games on the Wii. The issue is that there are better and higher fidelity options for FPS fans on other consoles. The multiplayer is also the best on the Wii though it does have some drawbacks because of the Wii platform. Hit the jump for more video.

For those with multiple consoles such as the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 I find it hard to believe that they will choose to play Conduit over a Halo 3, Killzone 2, or Call of Duty game to get their their FPS fix. The Conduit is limited by the chat (Wii Speak) and other online issues that plague the Wii in general. The fact that a large number of Wii users are most likely on Wi-Fi connections for online play may have something to do with the fact that I experienced tons of lag while playing. The lag issues pretty much offset any bonus accuracy gained from the the motion controls. Though the controls are good and very flexible in terms of button mapping options. The graphics in the Conduit are serviceable. Trust me the game did not look nowhere as good on my 46" HDTV as it does on these smaller videos. If you do play the Conduit be sure to play it on a smaller sized television. The levels at times did remind me of a game much older than this 2009 release. The checkered floors, sparse crates here and there, and crumbled bricks scattered across the stage in the multiplayer maps were not much to behold.

The bottom line is that the single player campaign is fun, and the multiplayer will be fun and totally worth it for those without higher fidelity options.
