GGPO Spectator Mode

GGPO is a Street Fighter matchmaking engine for the PC. You can find other players around the world to hadoken play in Street fighter Alpha 2 via the Final Burn emulator which is packaged with GGPO. Now they have added spectator mode which I guess can be used to size up players and have something to do while waiting for a challenge. Click the image above for a larger screenshot.

GGPO is great because the matches are for the most part lag free especially when compared to Xbox Live. Streetfighter fans love to be able to play other skilled players. Trust me. I use my xbox 360 controllers though mostly my custom Xbox 360 stick with the Xbox 360 Wireless adapter for Windows. Heres a snippet from the GGPO site on how they address online lag to improve play:

Traditional networking algorithms used to compensate for network latency result in either slower than normal gameplay or an excessive amount of delay (or lag) tacked onto the beginning of each move. GGPO.net uses a novel way to hide latency which lets the game run at full speed without adding any delay to any of your moves. So your timing doesn’t change and combos come out like butter. It’s almost like playing head-to-head in your living room!
