Little Big Planet Beta Impressions

I was fortunate enough to grab a Little Big Planet Beta key from Eurogamer a few days ago. In short, Little Big Planet is FUN. I had more fun than I expected to have while playing the demo. The game just oozes creativity and when you encounter one of the very many instances of this creativity you cant help but smile or chuckle. The game presents itself at first as a puzzle / platformer of sorts but there are robust creation modes that makes it much more than just a platformer. The video above is a capture of a small part of the demo.

The graphics are crisp and the creativity in textures and design elements are top notch. The only thing that looked off was that while moving my "sackperson" there is some blur of the backgrounds when in motion. I am not sure if that is limited to the beta but its very very minor and about the only thing that I did not like and it may be a style choice.

From my time playing the demo I must say that this game is shaping up to position itself as one of the finest games in the PlayStation 3 library. The fact that people of all ages and genders can enjoy this game is great and something that the PlayStation 3 brand needs to compete with Nintendo. Even if you have not planned to try it you should give it a chance because chances are you will love it.
