Metal Gear Solid 4 & Online 16-Player Multiplayer

At the Metal Gear anniversary party last night after showing a live demo (above) of Metal Gear Solid 4 it was announced that “Metal Gear Online” would be launched for the PS3 and that it would be a 16-player multi-player online game.Konami also announced a closed beta for the multi-player metal Gear online starting today in Japan for 3000 players that will end on August 6th.

Can this be the HALO 3 killer alternative that the Playstation 3 needs right now?
