Playstation 3 In-Game XMB Video Walkthough

by Fallback on Jun 30th, 2008 in video, PS3

Custom in-game soundtracks will rock. Sony is so late to the party with this update. We have been enjoying these features on the Xbox 360 for over a year now.

Metal gear Solid 4 80GB Playstation 3 bundles

Calling the Metal Gear Solid 4 80GB PS3 bundle I saw at Frys earlier today "custom" is putting it nicely. In order to get your hands on one of those nifty Metal Gear Solid 4 80GB Playstation 3 bundles you have to buy a crap load of other accessories you may not have the slightest interest in having. What a way to ruin what Sony intended to be a great deal. Yes, we have seen "bundle gouging" (my term for it) before with Wii console sales and it sucks balls regardless of the system.

The Metal Gear Solid 4 80GB PS3 bundle itself is supposed to be sold by itself for $499. Frys requires that in order to get the Metal Gear Solid 4 80GB PS3 bundle you also buy the following at a total of $669.62 (before tax is added):

Castlevania Judgement

The latest issue of Nintendo Power reveals that the new Castlevania game for Wii named "Castlevania Judgement" will be a 3D fighting game. This is super left field news. I know that I said this is the year of the fighting game but damn.

According to GoNintendo:

Characters confirmed thus far - Dracula, Simon, Alucard, Shanoa, and Maria Renard.

Metal Gear Online Impressions, Video Footage

by Fallback on Jun 27th, 2008 in video, PS3

Get the Flash Player to see this player.

These videos are of the online component that comes with Metal Gear Solid 4 called "Metal Gear Online." Its a bitch to set up and get going on Metal Gear online. As many of you already know you need to sign up for a a Konami ID AND also you need a Game ID. These ID names and passwords cannot be the same and there are character length restrictions. The video above shows the menus and options upon entering the online mode.

Your PSN friends are not automatically added as playable opponents or teammates on Metal Gear Online. The friends list on Metal Gear Online is completely separate from your Metal Gear Online friend list. In order to add a friend they must also be online and signed in the Metal Gear Online game at the same time you are. I tried for like 30 minutes to add a friend and I could not get it going. Compounded with the fact that there is no in-game XMB on the Playstation 3 the whole experience sucked. There was no way for us to chat while we both tried to add each other and get the a game going.
