If your impatient like me and don't want to wait until the Xbox 360 update with Netflix support is launched, or if you only have a PS3 you can enjoy streaming Netflix video to your TV through your Xbox 360 or PS3 via the FREE. Playon! is a media server that install on your PC (similar to TVersity) and allows you to access instant play Netflix moves and more via your PS3 or Xbox 360. Sounds great but how well does it work?
It actually works pretty damn great. I installed the Playon! application added in my Netflix account information and made sure that the Playon! application had access through my firewall. I then logged into Netflix via my browser and added some videos to my instant watch queue. When I then started PS3 the PlayOn! server app is visible as a "Media Server" and when you access it through the XMB as shown in the screenshot I took above it shows you all the videos in your "Instant Watch" queue. The videos streamed well for me with decent video quality and no buffering. Playon! also streams Youtube, HULU and NBC content as well though I only tested Netflix.
The only negatives worth mentioning seems to be the fact that it took 10 minutes or so for the videos I added to my instant watch queue top show in the PS3 system. Also it takes a minute or so for the lists to load on the ps3 and for the movie to start. These are both minor considering the system actually works well.
The beta of Playon! is available for free for 60 days and $30 thereafter. Click here for more information.
Note: The site seems to be down right now so I uploaded the app here for you. Dont forget who loves you.
