Call of Duty: World at War Better Than Call of Duty 4? Doubt It.

So PSW magazine is apparently calling Call of Duty: World at War better than Call of Duty 4 in their new magazine issue. I really don't believe this for a second and I need verification. Funny thing is that there are hardly any reviews on metacritic for World at War. No reviews by day launch typically means the game is crap. This seems very much like a cheap attempt to sell some magazines. So PSW we dont believe you, you need more people!

Here is a quote from the PSW Blog:

Modern Warfare was pretty much the best game on PS3 for the last year, it's online gameplay kept Deano, in particular, playing for months. So to hold the position that it's sequel, World At War is a better game, is surely to stir up some controversy. That's right, Treyarch has toppled Infinity Ward.

Right from the off there were going to be people saying how can they top COD 4.
I mean going back to WWII might not have been the smartest move in the beginning but i think they could actually pull it off.
I mean i played the beta and i really enjoyed. It was just as addictive as COD 4 in my opinion. OK the critics will be out talking about the guns aren't as good as Modern Warfare, well the technology wasn't as advanced in those days so get over it.
The main thing is the multiplayer. The campaign was OK on COD 4 but not exactly great or long lasting. It was the multiplayer that kept you coming back day after day, and i think Treyarch have done a good job with the online from the maps i've played.
We will just have to see though. I mean if all the other reveiws come out saying it's not better than Modern Warfare then i will still buy it anyway coz i know i will at least enjoy the online part.

First off, it's an exclusive review. I NEVER trust those. The way an exclusive review usually works is the magazine/website are supposed to promise a certain type of score. That might be why we haven't seen any other reviews yet.

If I just go based on their track records, IW is the better dev team. They make better games than Treyarch. That said, since all Treyarch did was build off of COD4, it's not impossible for WAW to be better than COD4, on the PS3. Now if they compare the other versions, it might not be the same.

Also, for multiplayer, it depends on whether you like the guns or not. If you don't like WWII weapons, you wont like WAW.

So far I find them really equal maybe 4 is slightly better mainly because it away from the regular ww2 setting

COD4 is gonna be better, they already prpject that WAW aint gonna sell like COD4...there are WAY too many WWII series out as it is, so to go back to WWII was a huge mistake...WAW does have some things that are better than COD4 (like the kicking a player who team kills) but of copurse they will have better things from learning from COD4, but I think 4 will still have as many if not MORE players online than COD: WAW, especially with GOW2 coming out around the same time, they made a bad move by bringiing the game out now...just my opinion

Everyone Im talking to about it (Random Gamers, Gamestop Employees, my own Game salesman employees) all say that World of War probably isnt going to be the great because its not made by the same company that made 1,2, and 4...which we all know. Im really waiting for a close friend to tell me because they know what I like and I trust their opinions.

Con's

1. Most of the maps are all huge, which is nice, but also tends to be a little annoying.
2. I know that it is WWII, but I would really like more automatic weapons.
3. Match bonus's seem to be way lower then they were in COD 4.
4. The airstrikes sound so annoying, but I know it's realism.

Pro's

1. I think that I like the dogs better then the helicopters. Being able to get points for killing the dogs is also cool.
2. I think that the maps look great.
3. Blowing off limbs = awesome.
4. Tanks = awesome, especially since one person can drive, and the other can hop in and shoot.

I haven't played a lot of single player yet.

until i have played world at war, i can't say whether it is better than call of duty 4, i don't often refer to reivews of games, i like to be my own judge tbh

No, it's not.

And the game looks trash but I didn't like Modern Warfare much either. Call of Duty games just don't look like they do anything special with the games, just looks like a generic game. And I get bored of them. Can only do so much boring run and gun killing.

WOW are you serious!! you must not look into games then, there are SO many different things that make COD4 special, you must just be the one running around and gunning, which is why your kill/death ratio prolly looks horrible...lol...gotta use tactics in a game like that, its realistic, unlike Gears where you can be in the open because it takes a whole clip to take someone down

COD4 is not about team work at all. There's always a player that just runs around and takes control of the game.

And it doesn't take a clip to kill people in Gears, just use your active reloads and head shots. I've killed plenty of people in one shot with the Boomshot, Torque, Longshot.

The gameplay in COD is fucking stale. You cant even look around walls or duck behind anything, it sucks.

the ducking behind things in Gears is basic movements though, the running in Gears looks so retarded and you cant even lay down in Gears...plus the shooting in Gears is so unrealistic..and those weapons you just mentioned arnt even weapons you start with, Im a Gears fan, but to call COD 4 generic compared to GOW in just a person who doesnt like COD and has blinders on to everything you CAN do, and I dunno what kind of groups you play with but in games against MY team on COD, if we see a guy running by himself he's the first to get sniped...you may think its not team based, but then why does my team NEVER lose? its cuz we're team based and we just pick apart people who arnt

I just picked it up on Friday & have been enjoying it.

From what I've played though, I did think I'll ebjoy it as much as 4. It feels more liner.

Just beat it today, decent story mode.
Some levels are a straight up bitch playing on Hardened.
It's up to par with COD4.

I liked it because all of the other WWII games I've played never let me experience the Russian side of the conflict.

The shotgun is a starting weapon and you can kill people in one shot with it.

I only really played pick up games in CoD. and there's no team feeling at all.

Pick up games in Gears I've always felt a sense of team work going on, people covering each other, people sharing or trading weapons, people picking team mates up when they go down, etc.

Idk, just an opinion.

yeah I have it and I do like it. I have been playing multiplayer and its fun. The fact that you get to play as japanese, russian, german, and american is cool and adds variety. I think its a damn good game.

i dont know if i can say w@w is better or worse than cod4, i mean for me its hard to compare the 2. theyre different. they got most of the same game modes but the gameplay is different.

some things i dont like about w@w are how some guns you have to cock back in between each shot and some guns take 2 minutes to reload.

i havent had waw for that long but right now i think i like cod4 better, like i feel like its too early to just start over and play waw
