In a mall a bit outside of Chicago a few days ago I stumbled on this pretty swanky Wii Kiosk. They had a bunch of Wii game stations where you could play Wii Sports, Mario Kart, Smash Bros. Brawl, and Wario Land Shake. The line was short and it seemed pretty cool.
The funny thing about this is that right around the corner literally a few feet away there was a kiosk that was selling Bootleg NES games. Funny stuff.

While we are still on the subject of 1UP and EGM, I was just watching today's
1Up show video and
during the review coverage of Mortal Kombat vs DC Heroes I noticed that Shane Bettenhousen was wearing a Street Fighter IV hat. Now that is a genuinely funny subliminal I can appreciate. Even funnier than the hat thing is the consensus in the show that Mortal Kombat vs DC is
not a serious fighting game. I totally agree.

According to the
New York Times, Ziff Davis CEO Jason Young contends that EGM may soon go the way of the old typewriter, and by that I mean that the print publication known as EGM may be replaced by its all digital counterpart 1up.com. This news makes the current EGM cover almost prophetic. The article states that Ziff Davis is considering taking EGM online only (via 1up.com) but that no decision would be made before the end of the year.

I figured I would wrap up all the legal related stories on one tight neat post. Capcom recently won their
case against the Producer of George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead who sued Capcom claiming that Dead Rising ripped the Dawn of the Dead film. I guess this is likely to mean that we will see the rumored Dead Rising 2 in the future at some point.
Sony recently lost a
patent lawsuit to Agere Systems over "wireless local area network apparatus" technology in PSP handhelds. Sony will have to cough up $18.5 million.
Activision dodged a
costly bullet by changing the box art of their new Baja game. Activision was being sued by THQ because of striking similarities in the box arts of their Baja games.

Wired has this pretty cool
article on Valve's attempts to catch a German hacker who hacked into the Valve systems and posted Half Life 2 source code on the internet. A very intriguing story with fake job interviews, Feds, and arrests. Sounds like a real life "
Catch Me If You Can." OK, well not quite but an interesting read nonetheless.

Less than one full month after release Sega's Golden Axe Beast Rider has begun its inevitable trip to clearance status. I spotted this sad sight earlier today at a local Target store and chuckled because as soon as Golden Axe Beast Rider was announced many months ago as a single player game with a muddy disposition
I knew the game would tank hard and fast. Oh, Sega...
