While looking into this upcoming book called "Arcade Mania" which is about the arcade culture in Japan I stumbled on this photo stream with some nice Japanese arcade photos. Have a look. I guess this will have to do until the book comes out and until my trip to Japan.

I already did. Sorry. I heard they are getting the arcade systems out of the arcades in Japan. The revenue isn't that good because of console systems, similar to Europe and the United States.
